Dell agreed to acquire SecureWorks

Dell Corp. has announced a definitive agreement to acquire SecureWorks Inc., an information security company that will expand the computer giant’s portfolio of on-demand IT services.
The acquisition of SecureWorks will mark “a significant expansion of Dell’s IT as a service offerings and information security expertise,” Dell Services President Peter Altabef said in a media conference call today.

“SecureWorks’ industry-leading managed-security services help companies of all sizes reduce risk, improve regulatory compliance and lower costs of managing IT security,” a company statement released today said.

Dell and its government unit, Dell Services, have a broad portfolio of contractual work within the federal sector “that will make it a lot easier for SecureWorks to expand inside the government,” he said.

Dell Inc. (DELL) agreed Tuesday to acquire information-security company SecureWorks Inc., as the computer maker continues its expansion into providing technology services.
Dell also has announced additional deals to acquire business-software firm Boomi Inc. and medical-data technology company InSite One Inc.

Analysts say Dell's buying spree could continue as the company makes efforts to expand its cloud-computing services in the security, storage and information management markets.
SecureWorks provides security information management, log monitoring, intrusion prevention, vulnerability scanning, and other services.

HTC Thunderbolt and Apple iPad 2 in different versions. Apple is getting ready to host a saga with iPad 2. The tech giant is to offer three different versions of the popular tablet. The next generation iPad will be compatible with Wi-Fi, 3G and CDMA networks.

So, that lovely 4.3-inch LTE smartphone with Android for Verizon we've been calling the Mecha and the Droid Incredible HD? As you can see, this is clearly Verizon's head-on answer to the EVO 4G, featuring similar stylings and, in all likelihood, an LTE modem swapped in for the EVO's WiMAX one.

Hyundai is launching a new kind of owners manual for its new Equus luxury car. Besides the usual rundown of information about vehicle features, the app has live service scheduling called “Equus At Your Service” that includes valet service.

Hyundai said its new interactive Equus Owner's Manual App for iPad — an exclusive feature on the 2011 luxury sedan — is now available for downloading from Apple's App Store--The Equus Owner's Manual App for iPad can be downloaded from the App Store.

Hyundai even pokes fun at perceived competitor Lexus, noting that the LS's owner manual is "1,091 pages in length, just shy of the 1,225 pages in Tolstoy's 'War and Peace.'" It's available now, for free, in the iTunes App Store.

Motorola Defy Reviews

Motorola claims that the device can withstand spillages, raindrops and even a quick dunk in a toilet

As well as being tough, the Motorola Defy also functions well as a smartphone. While the handset runs on the now slightly dated Android 2.1 interface, it does have most of the features expected from a device running the Google operating system.
Other useful applications include Documents to Go, which allows users to view files on the device. Our Vodafone supplied device also came preloaded with the operator's 360 services.
Using the DLNA connectivity, users can also wirelessly transmit content to other compatible devices.

The Motorola Phone Portal is another excellent feature that allows user to back up contacts, messages and multimedia.
The device can be connected to the portal via USB or through Wi-Fi.
A sheet of Gorilla Glass (video demo) keeps it safe from drops or cracks.
Unlike the Motorola i1, the DEFY isn’t fully military-spec certified, but it’s water-resistant and rustproof.

There’s also A-GPS, a digital compass, DLNA support, an ambient light sensor and an accelerometer.

Software
Disappointingly, the "Motorola DEFY" ships with Android 2.1 Eclair rather than the newer Froyo, complete with the latest iteration of MOTOBLUR. As we’ve seen on other recent MOTOBLUR devices, there’s Facebook, MySpace and Twitter support, along with Photobucket and Picasa photo sharing, and Motorola provide plenty of widgets for the seven-homescreen panes.
Android 2.1 lacks the speed boost of its successor, but is still solid and usable. Amazon’s Kindle ereader app, Blockbuster OnDemand and the Swype keyboard are preloaded, and there’s TeleNav GPS support if you’re not happy with Google Maps
Navigation. The DEFY’s 5-megapixel camera obviously isn’t the highest resolution Android snapper, but it’s a solid example.

Thanks to a 30fps frame rate the resulting clips are smooth, though there’s no in-video autofocus. Like previous Motorola devices, there’s TuneWiki integration for optionally showing track lyrics on recognized files. Unfortunately there’s no HDMI or other video output for hooking up an HDTV or external display.

the Cr-48 Chrome OS notebook

On Tuesday, Google announced its CR-48 notebook -- the for-testing-purposes-only Chrome OS machine it's distributing via a pilot program.

The Google Chrome Notebook Cr48 has just been set-free from the dreaded cardboard box and is now ready to impress us all. Hell, I will just tell you all I have thought about the Chrome Notebook and it’s glorious.

We chose Chipotle as our place to open the package from Google. There it was, The Google Chrome Notebook Cr48.
So already the notebook’s current design is drawing a crowd. Kudos to Google.
If you are like me and utilize about every Google application they have to offer then without a doubt, the "Chrome Notebook" is what you need. The Notebook almost seems to be made just for Google account owners only; which is why I am in love with it.

Just a few days after Google unveiled the Cr-48 Chrome OS notebook, the company has begun sending out demo units to a select group of beta testers. The keyboard has been optimized for Google Chrome, replacing the Caps Lock key, for instance, with a Search key — although you can change the settings to enable Caps Lock if you really need that function.
Google is sending the laptop out free of charge to testers.

The launch of the shuttle Discovery was scrubbed this morning after NASA detected a leak of dangerous gaseous hydrogen.

Weather delayed yesterday's original launch date.
NASA scrubbed Friday's planned" launch of shuttle" Discovery as a result of a potentially dangerous leak of gaseous hydrogen that could force the agency to delay an International Space Station outfitting mission until December.

The mission is being delayed at least until Monday.
The June mission was delayed a month.

A three-man station crew also is scheduled to depart the outpost Nov. 29 and an ongoing shuttle mission would interrupt that operation.

A fuel leak has been threatening to further delay the launch of space shuttle Discovery.
Hydrogen fuel began leaking early on Friday morning, midway through the fuelling process.
Launch controllers were now considering their options as the countdown continued towards the scheduled lift-off of 3.04pm local time (7.04pm GMT).

Nasa has until Sunday to send the shuttle to the International Space Station.
