COMEDIAN and DJ Danny Baker is fighting cancer. Yesterday he told fans on his Facebook page he would be having both chemotherapy and radiotherapy.

It seems Danny will have to take time out from his daily BBC London radio show and his weekly BBC Radio 5 Live show but he is clearly in fighting spirits.

Star Dj "Danny Baker revealed yesterday that he is battling cancer" - but vowed to beat it and get back on the air.

Ending speculation and explaining why he has been absent from his Saturday show recently, the Radio 5 Live host said he was starting a gruelling course of chemotherapy.

Baker, also well-known for his scriptwriting with pal Chris Evans, sounded upbeat and said he had been "watching Tommy Steele box sets".

In a statement on his Facebook and Twitter pages, he said: "Hello cats and kittens. Messages of support have flooded in from fans and colleagues. DJ Chris Moyles wrote on Twitter: "Just heard about Danny Baker. A genuine god among broadcasters.
Danny's agent, Alex Armitage, refused to reveal the type of cancer but said the 53-year-old was "in really great spirits and doing well".

Father-of-three Danny said he was starting chemotherapy and would begin radiotherapy in January.

Baker has been absent from the daily show for most of October.
TV Presenter and Radio DJ Danny Baker has told his fans he ‘will beat’ the Cancer that has seen him take time off from presenting duties at BBC Radio 5 Live.

Nationally TV Hell and TV Heroes saw Baker reach a mainstream BBC audience, programmes he also wrote for. With ITV he presented morning game show, Win, Lose or Draw and again for the BBC a show which surely would now go into a revived TV Hell – Pet’s Win Prizes. Today Baker has come out fighting.
